Left Behind Letter

The light filtered through the curtains softly illuminated the room, with fine dust floating in the air. A letter was left on the table. The name of the recipient on the envelope seemed to be calling out to her.

One step, two steps, she walked toward the table. The creaking of the floorboards felt unusually loud. She opened the envelope, which was light, inversely proportional to her heavy feelings. Inside was a single piece of paper, neatly folded. The handwriting was familiar.

"I've been thinking about it for a long time. It might be closer to say that I've always had these feelings from the beginning."

The way it started, separate from the content that was probably going to follow, calmed her feelings slightly.
